Press items mentioned the longstanding local superstitions, but failed to shed much light on the earlier background of the horror. By the Church had 97 members and was growing. Monster of the Week: The Haunter of the Dark | Stuff to Blow Your Mind
It is a world haunted by the Elder Gods, those shadowy, alien, ill-intentioned beings who are always lurking just beyond the corner of your eye, or in the darkest depths of the sea. Aroused at last to the whimsical news value of the scare, a pair of them had defied the frantic crowds of Italians and crawled into the church through the cellar window after trying the doors in vain. It’s worth noting that Robert Blake and the Haunter of the Dark become entangled via the passage of light through an otherworldly crystal known as the Shining Trapezohedron.
The thing is taking hold of my mind It’s sort of a commonplace that horror can be most effective when it leaves room for the imagination.
