Stretching isn’t remotely as well researched as other aspects as health and fitness. It then gives recipes for a workout and examples for several different sports, including not only martial arts but weightlifting, gymnastics, swimming and more.

Although to my untrained eye, the description of isometric stretching appears to match PNS in principle very closely. Ass to mouth filter. The organization is a little bit hard to follow and the author sounds a bit conceded at times hence the four starsbut besides that this book is a must read for anyone serious about their flexibility. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. The book makes sense throughout. It means nothing to the rest of us. However, the most recent edition came out inand I have to imagine that there’s been a significant amount of research in the area of stretching and sports training since then. Kurz has a reputation in the martial arts community as being the foremost expert on the subject of flexibility.

Doesn’t have a ton of stretches in it, but provides a system to follow, and the concepts needed to further your flexibility. So if you can do a middle split unilaterally, you can do the splits. Thomas Kurs can do it because he can the splits.
Not his stuff in general. It is worth noting that the book is quite old, so newer discoveries in the field will not be documented. There probably hasn’t been tbh. I just started reading Stretching Scientifically and am really enjoying his evidence based approach. A martial artist needs to be flexible and have strength at all ranges of motion to become more effective.
