Note, different Arduinos can use different processors with different internal hardware. For your purposes, it’s actually the same chip.
Use a baudrate that is not too high, baud should eatasheet fine.

So far I’m really a beginner, just breadboarding and playing and learning electronics. CL Too bad they didn’t make like 3 or 4 of them in one IC.
The SoftwareSerial can not transmit and receive at the same time, and that is what you are doing. B11l1 mW is an absolute maximum rating which means that if something goes wrong you can be sure that the device won’t blow up if the power dissipation is below this value. Sign up using Email and Password.
There is a balance between cost, hardware features and software complexity. Because SoftwareSerial disables interrupts during transmitting and receiving, the lower the baudrate, the longer the interrupts will be disabled.
Thanks for the info The LED and ohm resistor is only for testing. There is also a current into the output pin when the output is active, and that must be included into the allowed power dissipation; the datasheet cannot say anything about it because it’s ddatasheet by the external pull-up resistor. The H11L1 inverts the signal, and it seems I had to connect the output of the first H11L1 to the input of a second and now it works.
serial – H11L1 opto isolator does not pass signal to Arduino (correctly) – Arduino Stack Exchange
So in a lot of cases, it’s not even possible to find specific parts here, and a factor of 10 is quite normal. Michel Keijzers 5, 9 25 Welcome to Firmware land.
Michel Keijzers 6, 4 17 He can put the actual pull-up back when finished testing. This is only the supply current into the VCC pin. All datasehet would do is maintain a buffer of received data that is long enough to contain any expected messages until I could get around to reading it. But the bigger and more elaborate boards use complex chips.
Post as a guest Name. Fairchild adds an “M” suffix to optocouplers in a white package which has properties different from those of black packages. So they write sketches which expect to talk in turn. However, this did NOT solve the problem.
There is an alternative, the AltSoftSerial Library. A couple of mA that is normally needed. It is like talking and listening at the same time.
R3 and D1 provide the pull-up. If I check the data sheets, I see some different values, but for me it is unclear to know if these will affect the usage for MIDI R2 and Dztasheet form a voltage divider that prevents a proper high voltage; you have to connect the LED to 5V as shown in Transistor’s answer.
BenceKaulics Datqsheet I see a supply current of ‘ Typ’ 1. Oh of course thought it was in sending, but if inverting that way is possible, than it’s even better.
